Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

I was wondering if anyone has done any studies or published any papers in regards to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Theory in it's current form, and how society has adjusted to having to pay for basic necessities water, shelter,food.


I want to add electricity to this group as well, because I don't believe that you survive without it. I believe electricity has taken the place of fire now as a method of heat. I am wondering how society has changed as far as being able to obtain the basic needs level.
