Hello. I have been married for 10 years. My mother-in-law didn't approve of her daughter's marriage to me and still doesn't. My wife and I have a great relationship but my in-laws do not talk to me and I do not talk to them.

I feel that my mother-in-law feels/thinks that my child (and that of her daughter) is hers. Not hers in the literal sense but she thinks she is more entitled to him than me (his father). She likes that I disappear from the face of the earth so that she can have him to herself.

Is there any psychological/psychiatric condition of women with these feelings?

I remember an old movie for Gwynith Paltrow

Thanks,

Ed
