Explaining Death To Children

My children are 2, 5 and 7 and their grandmother is in her final days maybe weeks of cancer. They are begging to see her but she looks really bad and I don't want to traumatize them. I also don't want them to not be able to say goodbye to her. We weren't prepared for this she looked good at Christmas. What do I do. Please help.
