Occupational Psychology vs Occupational Health
by: Katy

Hi

I would like to know what the difference is between Occupational Psychology and Occupational Health?

From working in a private organisation I have developed an interest in pursuing Occupational Psychology and have become aware of using an Occupational Health service as a referral for long-term sickness absence.

Is the occupational health service in Occupational Psychology, or are they not related?

I would so grateful for your feedback. Thanks

Distinct Disciplines
by: David

Hi Elizebath

Occupational therapy and occupational psychology are distinct disciplines.

Occupational therapy is a very specific health based job concerned with the assessment and treatment of physical and psychiatric conditions.

Occupational psychology is primarily concerned with performance and psychological wellbeing in the workplace.

You can find out about the difference between occupational psychologists and occupational therapists in terms of educational qualifications, duties and responsibilities by clicking on the following links.
