Research on Successful Marriages in Different Countries

I remember a short article published in a local news-paper concerning a research carried out in USA, in early 70's. The subject of the research was something like this: "How successful are the marriages in different parts (or countries) of the world and the reasons of success and failure."

As far as I remember, the leading country where the marriages are (comparatively) most successful was the USA. And the leading reason of success was the fact that The Family and Environmental intervention in the affairs of the couples was the least.

I would appreciate if anyone can remember the exact title and the authors of that research? and if the paper is available on the Net? And also if there is a newer research on the same subject.

Thanks.
