The Psychology of Anxiety

I am nearing the end of a stressful real estate transaction that will finally close soon, but I am anticipating everthing that can possibly go wrong and its making me quite anxious.
Yesterday I spent the day building a cabinet for the bathroom from scratch and today I repaired a light fixture. Both of those required a fairly good deal of concentration on what I was doing and I didn't think about anything else but what I was doing and had zero anxiety. My psychology question is why does my brain just not have enough to do but worry when I am not concentrating on something else?
